med ball + stuvac.
1:50 PM
I have 10 minutes to throw this post in. (I intend on studying at 2 PM)
I think most people are a little bit more chilled this time round before exams. Either they’re really prepared, or we’re all beginning to think “eh, whatever…”. But, more than anything I’ll put my money on the latter.
God, I am so not prepared…
Anyway, on the 28th of May 2010, the Armidale Services Club held a little event known as the UNEMSA Medicine Autumn Charity Ball. This ball is UNEMSA’s inaugural event of the year, and if you’re a medical student at Armidale, you would be a complete idiot to have not attended (by choice of course, those who were sick or injured get a pass).
Bar tab, good food, good entertainment, good people, raffle, anonymous auction, a night out with your best and closest friends/colleagues, what else could you ask for? It gave the beaten, brain dead and plain tired medical students a chance to unwind for a night and take it easy.
In any case, we had one mission that night: “Get Steven Vo smashed”, suffice to say, we failed – miserably. If anything, we got drunk and he stayed relatively sober. But that aside, the night also saw friends and family visit and attend as +1s or +2s…or +3s. Simone invited both Jenna and Josh from back home in Beauy; Lucy invited her sister; Sam invited his girlfriend; Yamini invited her best friend; Dan O’Hara brought his parents and many more. It was great to meet these new people, and hopefully we showed them a good time, Armdailian style,
Also, CHRISLAWRENCE stayed for the ball!!! OMGWTFLOL! Because of that man, I now know what it’s like to be properly grinded and dirty danced against by a man.
I could go on and on about the night. It was a great night. To those who didn’t attend, your loss. You missed out on the best night of the year in UNEMSA’s calendar
Onto the photography side of things, all shots were taken with a 50mm ƒ/1.8D and an SB-600 speedlight. Shots turned out fairly well I reckon.
For Renju Cherian.
Doing the Josh Sung.

There was of course a lot of this…

Oops 2:09 PM…
Better get onto work.
Update.
My god it’s been a while.
11th May 2010 2:14am – Currently in Armidale.
I won’t bore you guys with every single detail of life in Armidale since the last post. However, recently there has been a Tennis Open and Bake Sale Day! It was a fairly pleasant day with a decent turn out of people. With the job of being the photographer of the day, it was great to finally get a hand in at some sport photography (despite this not being professional hardcore tennis). It was an interesting experience, knowing how to frame the photos right; wondering whether other standard photography techniques would work here; rule of thirds; action shots.
In the end a total of 650 photos were ascertained and my god were there some extremely average shots. But, there were also a some very surprising shots! Here’s some examples…
On another note, second year medical students at UNE are pathetic.
“Oh, we’re not going to Med Ball because they’re too close to exams.” – Generic 2nd Year Student
YOU HAVE FUCKING 2 WEEKS. 2 FUCKING WEEKS. OH SHIT I CAN’T SPARE A NIGHT.
No one is asking you to get wasted. It’s a night to dress up nicely to have a nice dinner with your close friends and colleagues.
Don’t have the money to pay for ball? No problem, speak to Fi and UNEMSA can help you out. UNEMSA is here to help. THAT’s WHAT UNEMSA IS FOR. TO “SUPPORT THE POPULATION OF MEDICAL STUDENTS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND”
Okay on another note.
Ducks, they’re cute…right?
Time to shower.
