With love(?) from Android.
I am writing this from the 200$ nexus s that I impulsed off eBay in december. Needless to say, i’ve experienced much of what android has to offer including the supposedly “amazing” Ice Cream Sandwich firmware.
Though android is highly impressive and while I fully understand why people like/love/jizz over this platform, I am simply still not sold.
It again for me, boils down to the whole user...

parislemon:
Why do I hate Android? It’s definitely one of the questions I get asked most often these days. And most of those that don’t ask probably assume it’s because I’m an iPhone guy. People see negative take after negative take about the operating system and label me as “unreasonable” or “biased” or worse.
I should probably explain.
Believe it or not, I actually don’t hate Android. That...

This really is gold.
And we're back!
It’s been quite a while since I’ve cracked the tumblr open. About a year and a half perhaps.
It’s been quite a year and a half:
I’ve been to Tamworth, spending my 4th year of medical training there
I’ve been to Africa (in 2010 actually)
I’ve revisited my two past jobs (Santa Photography and David Jones)
I’ve acquired my own shiny iPad
I’ve...

welcome semester 2.
5th July 2010
This is ridiculous. We are back a whole 2 weeks earlier than the rest of the University and many more weeks earlier than other unis. And it doesn’t end there, this week’s timetable is probably the busiest week in this entire semester.
Not a bad start to the semester eh?
Anyways, I took a couple photos in the [extremely short] 2 week holidays. Most notable was one...

More on the iPhone 4 signal issue
penllawen:
Previously, I did some simple testing of reception strength on my iPhone 4 and concluded that I couldn’t see any problems. I’ve now done some more thorough testing, however, and have reason to think I was wrong. Warning: this is very long and nerdy.
UPDATE: read Anandtech’s article, they figured out how to make the iPhone 4 display true signal-to-noise ratios and have thus been able...

exams.
I know it’s a bit late, but exams are actually over (they’ve been over for about 3-4 days now) but I digress. So the stuvac period is a set number of days prior to examinations that the university gives us to go over summary notes and to reinforce knowledge attained throughout the semester – or if you’re like me, then they’re for catching up with an entire semester’s...

1:50 PM
I have 10 minutes to throw this post in. (I intend on studying at 2 PM)
I think most people are a little bit more chilled this time round before exams. Either they’re really prepared, or we’re all beginning to think “eh, whatever…”. But, more than anything I’ll put my money on the latter.
God, I am so not prepared…
Anyway, on the 28th of May...

21st Celebrations.
May seems to be a very special month. There has been many, many, many birthdays and 21st birthdays at that.
Happy Birthday to Liz, Pru, Julie, Steve, Liam, Kevin, Fiona and a multitude of other people!
Yes, on the 15th of May there was a dilemma, I was to either attend Pru & Liz’s birthday party at the Wicklow or; I was to attent Fiona’s 21st birthday at the Austin Attic. Well...

Update.
My god it’s been a while.
11th May 2010 2:14am – Currently in Armidale.
I won’t bore you guys with every single detail of life in Armidale since the last post. However, recently there has been a Tennis Open and Bake Sale Day! It was a fairly pleasant day with a decent turn out of people. With the job of being the photographer of the day, it was great to finally get a hand in at...

Lens Wish List.
In a day of total procrastination and 0 productivity, I have found two really possible lenses for me to consider. Both are tokinas and both received extremely favourable reviews on FM Reviews.
The first is an ultra wide-angle Tokina AT-X 116 PRO DX 11-16mm f/2.8 lens. Can get one of these for about $694.00 AUD on eBay.
The next one is a great lens for candid/portraiture photography, the...
An interview with KiD CuDi.
What kind of fears do you have about releasing your album?
Kid Cudi: I don’t really have any fear about the business; my biggest fear is getting wrapped up in the illusion of fame and Hollywood and shit like that. Getting wrapped up in the worldly things like drugs and the excitement of being famous. I have a vulnerable enough past that it could propel me into that world. I don’t want to be caught up in it. I want to do something while I’m here. This is hell. All the shit that’s going on around us, this is hell.
What’s hell about it?
Kid Cudi: Just turn on the fucking news.
But do you feel like your own world is hell sometimes?
Kid Cudi: Yeah. Most of my groupies are spawns of the devil. [Laughs.] They’re there to take me off track and fuck up my purpose. It’s like the dark side is trying to pull me in. Who wouldn’t like a bunch of hot-ass bitches saying, “Hey, we all wanna fuck you right now!”? [Laughs.] But you have to realize that it’s an illusion, that you can get caught up, turn into a person that you never knew you could be—and I don’t wanna be that dude.
An interview with Drake.
Does anybody in your extended team ever push you to be more...anything, I guess?
Drake: Never. Nobody's ever come to me and said, "Yo, you need to start rapping about this." Not Sylvia [Rhone, president of Motown/executive VP of Universal], Wayne, Doug Morris [CEO of Universal]. Nobody's ever said that to me in my life. I don't think anybody could ever do that. I talk about my real life. That's undeniable shit.
At the end of the day, I know it’s a cliche, but people are our most important...

Friday Night Markets.
Every week on friday night, Chinatown becomes alive with their weekly markets. The markets are an opportunity for different people to sell their wares and make a quick buck. The majority of stalls are either “cheap” brand name clothing or “cheap” jewelery for the greater Asian population that now resides in the city of Sydney.
This QQ food store is one of many food...

Holidays are here.
It’s been an interesting past 2-3 weeks. The first 2 weeks were filled with GP placement and a lot of clinical exposure. Met a lot of interesting cases and did some very cool practical work. I had given so many injections, I’m almost as pro as the practice nurses now!
Doing suture work on real patients was real good fun and all I need is more experience. These are one of the few...

GP Placement Day 2 and 3.
Day 2.
Giving injections are still good fun.
Talking to a patient with clinical depression, OCD, anxiety, diabetes mellitus type 2 and spinal degenerative disease was interesting.
Watched and helped with a pap smear; could have possibly turned me off obstetrics and gynecology forever.
Day 3.
Pretty happy I’m not going to be a podiatrist, feet are pretty disgusting.

Afternoon Chilling.
It was a quiet sunday afternoon spent playing Tekken 5, chilling with new friends and a surprise visit by Alex! A Taylor Swift serenade by Josh and a couple of hours of catching up and talking about anything and everything proved to be an afternoon spent well.
